Key Advantages of Crumin Non-Trunnion Mills
The mill design provides for increased capacity by converting the traditional trunnion design into a larger non-trunnion design, while maintaining the process site dimensions with minimal modification of the mill support foundation pedestals and without changing the main drive foundations (electric motor and crown gear).
The mill drum consists of three parts: the central drum, the feed shell and the discharge shell. This drum design allows replacing the damaged part only, rather than the entire drum, which significantly reduces repair costs and spare part costs for several mills. Two flange connections improve the drum rigidity under working loads, thus improving the drum reliability. Besides, the solid drum machining (machining of bands) is a unique operation that can be performed at a couple of enterprises in the CIS countries, while when the drum is divided into 3 parts, the machining of each part is not unique and can be performed at many machine-building enterprises, which is important for possible repairs.
The segmented bearing design does not require strict axes alignment between the three parts of the drum, since the segments are self-aligning in two mutually perpendicular planes, thereby eliminating edge contacts and maintaining a liquid friction mode that ensures the bearing durability.
The middle part lining layout (of the mill drum) remains the same as in the existing mill, while the shell lining layout is original. The shell/central drum lining joints are made the same way as the drum/feed cover and drum/discharge cover joints at the existing mill, so the wear rate of these elements does not increase
The lining can be either standard (metal) or rubber-metal, which has the following advantages:
The bearings are lubricated from a lubrication unit with two single-mode pressure lines, without a barrier fluid system.
The mill is loaded using a standard method and device (feeder), and the feeder/mill connection dimensions are standard.
